Margaret McDonnell, CPA/ABV,

Margaret has been an accounting professional since the early 1990’s, working as a free-lance bookkeeper in the Mad River Valley. She continued her formal education while building her bookkeeping practice until taking a full-time job at Gallagher Flynn and Company in Burlington, where she worked for 6 years as an audit, tax and business valuation specialist.
Recruited by the CFO of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in 2005, Margaret was charged with establishing an internal audit function at the fledgling company in order to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. She was also responsible for overseeing sales & use tax, payroll tax and income tax compliance for the company.
Margaret spent three years directing the Internal Audit Department at Green Mountain Coffee Roasters before convincing management to bring the tax function in-house, which it did in 2005. She recruited and trained her successor and began to build a Tax Department responsible for all direct and indirect taxes at Keurig Green Mountain.
During her employment at Green Mountain, Margaret maintained her business valuation credentials by carefully choosing projects she could complete without interfering with her full-time job. She also continued to build her income tax client base, some of whom were clients since her days at Gallagher Flynn.
Finally, in May of 2015, after 10-1/2 years at Green Mountain, the allure of working with small and medium-sized businesses and helping individuals with their tax planning and reporting surpassed the challenges of Tax Director of a publicly-traded company that had grown to over $5 billion in sales. Margaret resigned from Keurig Green Mountain to establish McDonnell Tax & Consulting, PLLC.
In December 2019, Margaret earned the distinguished CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER(TM) designation, further widening the scope of services she can provide to her clients.
